Installing WordPress can sound pretty intimidating, but it’s actually very simple with our easy one click installer.
The first thing you’ll want to do is open up your cPanel. Once your cPanel is open, scroll down to the bottom where it says One Click Installer. The first item on the list is WordPress. Click it and it will bring you to the installer page. Click the Install Now button, this will bring you to a configuration section that you will need to pay special attention to.
The first step is the Software Setup step. Underneath are the options to choose for your Software Setup including Protocol, Domain, and Directory.
Choose Protocol – We recommend using https:// as we offer free SSL on all of our domains, you should definitely be using this.
Choose Domain – Choose the domain that you will be installing WordPress for.
In Directory – This is the domain your WordPress installation will be installed to. If you are installing to your root directory (which is most often the case) you’ll want to remove the “wp”.
Site Settings, Admin Account
The next sections are Site Settings and Admin Account. These are fairly self explanatory. Site Name is the name of your blog, Site Description will be what it’s about. Enable Multisite is a WordPress feature that allows you to run multiple sites under one WordPress installation – this is no longer supported under WordPress so we recommend not to check this box. All Admin Account fields are self explanatory, be sure to write down your Username and Password.
Chosen Language, Select Plugins, Advanced Options
The next sections are Chosen Language, Select Plugins, and a expanded Advanced Options section. Choose Language is self explanatory. Select Plugins allows you to select if you’d like Limit Login Attempts through Loginizer. We recommend checking this box as a security measure. The next option is Advanced Options, which we will go into more detail below the screenshot.
Advanced Options has a few options that can mostly be left alone. One thing we do recommend however is selecting Automated Backups so that your WordPress back ups are automated. Little Acorn backs up your site daily for up to 10 days, and weekly every Sunday and monthly on the 1st. However, you can choose your own WordPress specific backups here that may make it easier if catastrophe does happen.
The last section is to select your theme. We don’t allow custom themes at this point. If you plan on using your own custom theme or one not listed, then simple choose one temporarily for the initial install for your website and then go through WordPress to install the theme of your choosing.
Before you click the Install button, we do recommend you email installation details so you can see how your install works. It may provide some information about your specific install that you need to look up at a later date.
After clicking install, there will be a progress bar while your installation is taking place and it will be installed! Congratulations, you’ve just installed WordPress! Either click the link or access your page by going to your site under www.example.com/wp-admin and using the credentials you filled in your site.
